The National Alliance of Women’s Organisations (NAWO) offers our sincere condolences to Jo Cox’s husband, her children, family and friends. We have been shocked and sadden by this terrible act of murder which not only took Jo’s life but was also a direct attack on our democracy.

Jo was an example for all of us – a humanitarian with a big heart and a brilliant campaigner who preferred practical solutions over sentimental words. Both as an MP and a campaigner for Syrian refugees she always acted with courage and moral dignity.

Jo worked tirelessly to make the world a better place and we take inspiration and reassurance in her work.  We stand united with  Jo’s husband Brendon and her friends  to overcome the hatred that killed her.
