Stroud High is a high performing school and Sixth Form in the South West of England. Young women in Year 12 have been attending CSW since 2005 with the support of Zarin Hainsworth and NAWO. Following COP26, Stroud High’s event will focus on how young people, especially young women, can make significant impacts in the protection of the planet.
The Town
Stroud is a market town which became the world’s first Earth protector town in 2019, supporting the work of the late environmental lawyer and campaigner, Polly Higgins. Stroud Town Council climate change resolution has a commitment to the reduction of carbon emissions with a target of becoming a carbon neutral organisation by 2030. Ecotricity, Britain’s greenest energy company, based in the heart of Stroud, and aims to end the use of fossil fuels in the energy sector. As a company, they have been fighting climate change for 25 years. Stroud High School’s very own Eco Council encourages the voices of young people to be heard, considering ways the students can actively make change in building a sustainable future.
