What is CSW? And How to Get Involved!

Happening Now: CSW 62 is taking place in New York 12th – 23rd March, 2018. Find out all about what NAWO and its member organisations are doing to advocate for women’s rights on both a national and international level. You can see a full schedule HERE.

What is CSW?

CSW or the “Commission on the Status of Women” is a global, intergovernmental body, instrumental in determining global standards on gender equality.  Annually, CSW creates a new or updated text which mainstreams gender equality into the UN agenda in a concise and transparent way, providing the basis for further concerted action.

How can I get involved?

Once a year CSW meets at the United Nations Headquarters in New York for two weeks around International Women’s Day. (8th March). NAWO holds a series of events throughout the year around the main themes and topics of CSW. Keep an eye on our Events  page for upcoming events.

NAWO members are able to submit requests to be accredited to attended CSW.

Keep an eye on our CSW Alliance Events page. We also accredit young people to attend CSW in delegations every year. Please see YWA at CSW to find out more.
